South Levee Outfall Structure Safety and Security Improvements

The District is undertaking safety, security and site improvements to the existing outfall structure from the District’s lake into Steep Bank Creek. This site is just south of Double Lakes Drive.

The improvements will include electrical service for the gate lift motors, site lighting for emergency operations, safety railing, security/monitoring cameras and rainfall/elevation gages to aid in emergency operations. This project is projected to begin in the summer of 2026 and be completed by early 2027.

Oyster Creek Outfall Closures Project

To reduce the potential of flooding from Oyster Creek backflowing into the storm sewer systems, the District has begun a project to install flap gates on the storm sewer outfall pipes.

Structural design is nearing completion.  Updates will be posted as the project progresses.

Levee Top Hardening Project Complete

The project consisted of adding Articulated Concrete Blocks to the levee tops to prevent wheel rutting and other vehicular damage to the levee and allow for better all-weather inspection and maintenance access by the District’s Operator, LID Solutions, and other district consultants. These blocks allow for grass to grow in the slight gaps between blocks and the holes in the blocks. Grass will cover the blocks and they will be all but invisible over time.
